The mounting dimensions of the single nut ball screw and the double nut ball screw are identical except for the length (the length of the double nut is twice that of the single nut). At the same time, the load is more than twice that of a single nut.

The difference between single and double nuts:

Single nut ball screw This is the simplest kind and consists of a nut. In practice, a slight axial clearance is produced. However, with strict control, the axial clearance can be greatly reduced, and the nut can also be adjusted for preload. The preloaded single nut type is suitable for small CNC machining equipment, semiconductor production equipment, assembly robots and measuring equipment. These situations require precise positioning under mild or normal prepressure.

Double nut ball screw preloading is applied by rotating two nuts in opposite directions respectively, and the nuts are fixed by the pins installed between them, the axial clearance is eliminated, and the stiffness is increased due to preloading. The double nut type is suitable for machines requiring high stiffness and precise positioning under moderate or heavy loads.
